The East Coast Challenge 28th September 2008
A Bridge Too Far........
Not for us that finished the East Coast Challenge, as I look cherishingly at my award mug and think of the little ferryand the strange "boat" shelter at Reedham, it was a welcome break to the journey and the weather. 15 members started on a grim morning and 7 finished.
It was 2 hours to Stowmarket, good weather up to Swaffingham and then a horrendous downpour
just before Sheringham where we had a welcomed fish & chips lunch. We finished the day around 8.30pm
with that feeling of achievement that goes with damp gloves and a sore butt, all in the name of charity! |

"Happy New Year 2009" ...........
Start how you mean to go on! On your bike, hungover and no money left! That's how it was on our
first trip for the few that braved the coldest New Year's Day in 26 years.
Like most of us John had too much the night before, so we started later than planned, we were all grateful.
We took a nice sobering ride to Maldon and sampled the culinary delights of MacDonalds at least 3 times.
It was a great opportunity to get together and take "the michael" out of each other as usual.
With some help from Jim around Chelmsford the journey back was a delight. Credit to John, where does he
find these roads? Not bad for an Essex boy.
