Track Day, Silverstone 6th May 2009
It all started after Donnington last May, Me, Paul and Barry said we have to do another one, so Christmas came along and Sarah asked me what I wanted (silly question really) So Silverstone was booked. Paul and Barry both said they were up for it and booked up, We mentioned it to the rest of the group and Keith said he would do it and booked (he had to cancel later) So it was all booked in for the Thursday and we rode up on the Wednesday evening and stayed at the fantastic (hahahaha) Travel Lodge in Towcester... We had a nice ride up and we all needed a drink so we took a nice little stroll into Towcester (we looked like the 3 Amigos)
We found what looked to be a nice little pub, we ordered some drinks and food and this is when the fun started.. Barry ordered a prawn and smoked salmon open sandwich, when it came out they told him that they had run out of Salmon and did he still want it.... Surely it would have been better to ask before they had made it!!!! Barry ended up getting a refund and going to the golden arches for a burger (nice and healthy)
We agreed to meet at 7.30 in the reception so we could get to the Track and hopefully get a Pit. As we came out of the hotel the rain started falling (the horrid misty rain) so on went the waterproofs and it was a case of Shall we go home now!!!! We filled up with Motion lotion and headed for the track.

We pulled in to the paddock and we got into Pit 7a Along with a few others.. We had the usual briefing and the day got underway (by this time the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to show itself!!) the first session we had 3 sighting laps and then it was go go go.. we had three sessions in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, Mick P came up in the afternoon to take some pictures.. At one point i looked round in the pit and thought Rossi had joined us (picture).. We also thought we would have a little fun and contaminate each other’s tyres, Paul picked some of the loose bits off his rear tyre and put on mine which meant that I then have Michlops and I did the same which gave Paul Dunmitch!!! (it made us laugh)
It came to the last session and me and Paul decided to give the last one a miss, you can guarantee if we had gone back out this is when we would have had a mishap... Barry went out and everything was fine... When he came back in me, Paul and Mick were ready to go but we had to wait for Barry to put his pannier rack on and mirrors.... This took some time and we finally hit the road about 6pm.
We filled up with go go juice and headed home down the A5, we hit a little rain and Paul and Mick wanted to change their visors so they could see, when we pulled up in a layby Barry decided he wanted to put his waterproofs on so off came his pannier, and he decided to pay a visit to the trees at the side of the road.. He then got his waterproofs on and we hit the road again (it didn’t rain again after this)
We headed for the motorway just to get home, as we came to the A10 Tunnel (Holmesdale tunnel) me, Paul and Mick all dropped a few gears and opened it up through the tunnel (what a beautiful sound) We came off at Jct 26 Me and Barry headed home and Paul and Mick went up the club to see everyone.
All in all it was a great day and we didn’t lose Barry, To the next Track day, hopefully a few more of you will join us.
