BIKERS IN PARADISE WILDLIFE PARK.
SUNDAY 18th APRIL 2010.

What great weather we had for this event, sun, sun and more sun.
There were 10 members from the club who attended this event, Ken, Alan R, Alan and Hazel, Phil, Aryeh and myself. At lunchtime Andreas, Tony and Steve Y turned up for their Bike Safe assessed ride. Ken, Phil and Aryeh also had an assessed ride booked for the afternoon.

I arrived at the Park at 8:30am with Ken arriving shortly behind me. We set the gazebo up on our pitch and displayed the Honda Owners Club banner.
The two Alan’s, with Hazel, arrived shortly after, followed by Phil. The bikes were set up in front of the gazebo and we got ready to chat to any people that stopped to check out the bikes and literature that we had on display.

The park started to fill up with people and we had quite a few people stop and chat to us throughout the day.
We potentially have about 10 people that may join the club. They may turn up at the club one night and see what the club is like. Each one of them seemed really interested in joining the club, so here’s hoping.

The event was attended by quite a good selection of different organisations and clubs, who walked around chatting with the other stallholders. Some freebies were on offer and greatly received, especially the free Hein Gericke T shirts.

We were set up right beside the arena where the stunt riding, modern dancing, Shilan Monks and the Hein Gericke fashion show took place.
The stunt show was very good with the rider laying the bike over a few times. He tried to make it look as though it was part of the show, but we knew it wasn’t. He still did better than what I could have done.

Ken and Phil went off on their assessed rides. Ken came back with an assessment sheet with all the “A” boxes ticked. I did check for eraser marks and tippex, but none were evident. Well done Ken.
Phil, Adreas, Tony and Steve Y also had good ride assessments, which they were all pleased with. Well done to all.

We saw Eddie Kidd at the show and have a picture of him in his wheelchair by the front of our gazebo. We didn’t get to chat with him as he was on his way to chat with the stunt rider.

We also had a visit from Stella the Eagle Owl and her handler. Stella paid a lot of interest in our bikes especially the hooters we had fitted. (Sorry for that one).

All in all it was a good day out, good company, a good event and lovely sunny weather. There is also the potential that we could have 10 new members joining the club sometime soon.

Thanks to everyone for making it a great day out.

Until the next ride out. Ride safely.

Roland.
